Mark your calendar for this exciting event!  We hope to see you there!

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I hope you enjoyed your summer with family and friends and are relaxed and ready to begin a new school year. My name is Teresa Dale, and I am excited to be your principal this year!  I believe all students can learn, and I look forward to forming a partnership with you as we educate your child.

My teaching degree is from Lees- McRae University.  I have a master’s degree in Instructional Technology and an add-on license in Administration, both from Appalachian State University.  I also have State Academically Gifted K-12 certification.  My husband is Robin Dale, and we have two daughters. One is a nurse, married, and has a handsome son, Connor, who loves his Nana. My other daughter is a chemistry graduate student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. I enjoy leading the choir at my church, spending time with family and friends, reading, crocheting, and cross-stitching during my free time.

All school staff have been preparing for your child. The office staff has been registering new families and ordering supplies. Our hard working custodians have been cleaning our building.  Teachers have been planning and preparing lessons/activities to make learning exciting for everyone.  All students and teachers will be growing and learning at Valdese Elementary School.  The learning environment must be as safe and secure as possible for all students and staff.   Please support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

Comes to school daily and arrives on time
Completes all assignments given by teachers (classroom and homework)
Reads at least 20 minutes daily to create a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
Informs you or a teacher if he/she needs additional help with any subject
Knows and understands the Student Code of Conduct which contains the dress code and behavior expectations
Knows that you expect him/her to be successful in school, and become a prosperous citizen in society by pursuing a career after graduating from high school/college.

Please know that careful consideration has been taken to place your child in the best environment for learning.  Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level.  Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities.  The staff at Valdese Elementary School works hard to make school a positive experience for each student. Remember it may take a few weeks for your child to acclimate to a new teacher, new grade, or a new group of friends.

I want to personally invite you to “Popcorn with the Principal” on Monday, July 31st, 4:00-6:00 PM in the cafeteria.  This will give me the opportunity to meet  students and parents before school begins.  I also want to encourage you to attend “Meet Your Teacher” night, on Thursday, August 24th from 3:30 - 6:00 PM. This is a great time to meet your teachers and learn about the upcoming school year.  The first day of school is Monday, August 29th, and instruction begins promptly at 7:55 AM.

Enjoy the remainder of your summer break,  and I look forward to meeting each of you soon!
