What's going on at VES...

    Happenings for the Week of November 20th- November 21st, 2017

    NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 22nd-Friday, November 24th.

    We hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving break!  See you back at school on Monday, November 27th, 2017!

    Upcoming events:

    Monday, November 27th- School Board Meeting from 6:00-7:00pm

    Tuesday, November 28th- Robotics from 2:35-4:30pm

    Thursday, November 30th- Half-Day Dismissal at 11:30am

    Friday, December 1st- PTO Hat Day for $1.00 donation

    Friday, December 8th- Students sing for the Town of Valdese Christmas Concert at 6:00pm-  More information will be sent home in the Take Home Tuesday folders after Thanksgiving.

    OPT-IN to SchoolMessenger

    Want to receive SchoolMessenger text messages? Text the word Yes to 68453. Burke County Public Schools and your child’s school use SchoolMessenger to send notifications. Phone calls and emails are automatic, but to receive texts, you must opt-in. If we have your cell number on file, and you text Yes to 68453, you will receive texts from us.

    Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for 2017-2018

    ***Important Information about Drop-off times for Students:
    Student drop-off will begin at 7:30am. If your student is dropped off before 7:30am, you will be charged a fee by our Valdese Before and After School Daycare.

    ***Information about Morning drop-offs Areas for Students:
    Car Riders- Enter drop-off line on Church Street
    Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:30am in the car rider line that goes by our picnic shelter.  When you pull in to our school on the Church Street side, the car rider line will need to loop to the right (in the parking lot for the Tiger Gym).  This keeps our traffic from backing up into the road.
    Car Riders- Parents Need to Walk in- Enter Parking lot entrance from Church Street
    If you park in the parking lot, please use the upper portion of the lot.  Please leave the lower parking spaces for our teachers and staff.  If you park in this lot, you CANNOT let your child walk into the school alone.  You MUST walk your student(s) into the school.  

    Please do not use the traffic circle around the playground.  There should be no traffic in the circle during drop off unless you need to use the handicap parking spaces by the gym.  

    Under NO circumstances can you drop your child off in our parking lot on Praley Street.  Please help us keep your student safe during morning drop-off times.

    Supplemental Insurance Information
    Did you know that you can take out supplemental insurance on your students through a partnership between Burke County Public Schools and QBE, Inc.? 
    Accident plans and options include 24-hour coverage, at-school coverage, extended dental coverage, and football coverage.
