    May/June 2017 Happenings

    Fifth Grade Science EOG Test
    Our fifth graders will take the EOG Science test on Friday, May 26th. Please be sure that your student arrives on time for school!  Breakfast will be served for them in the cafeteria before they take the Science Test.

    Memorial Day- No School
    School will be closed on Monday, May 29th for Memorial Day.

    PreK Graduation Day
    PreK Graduation Day will be on Wednesday, May 31st at 9:30am at the Old Rock School.

    3rd-5th Grade EOG Tests
    Our 3rd-5th grade students will take the following tests-
    • Reading EOG test on Wednesday, May 31st.
    • Math EOG test on Thursday, June 1st.
    Please be sure that your student arrives on time for school!  Every student in grades 3-5 will have breakfast delivered to his/her classroom before the test starts.

    5th Grade Dance
    Our fifth graders will have their end of the year dance on Friday, June 2nd from 4:00-6:00pm.

    Field Day
    Field day for all classes will be on Monday, June 5th beginning at 8:30am. ***We encourage parents to apply sunscreen to their students BEFORE school.  Students must have a doctor's order to self apply sunscreen brought from home.  If you have questions about this, please contact our school nurse, Mrs. Kiser at tkiser@burke.k12.nc.us or my calling the school.***

    RTA Test for 3rd Grade
    The RTA test for third grade will be on Tuesday, June 6th.

    Fifth Grade Luncheon
    Our fifth grade luncheon will be on Tuesday, June 6th from 11:00am-12:00pm.

    4th Grade Field Trip
    Our 4th grade students will be going to Grandfather Mountain on Wednesday, June 7th from 8:00-2:00pm.

    3rd Grade Retest 2
    Retesting will be on Thursday, June 8th from 12:30-1:30pm.

    Kindergarten End of the Year Awards
    Kindergarten awards will be on Thursday, June 8th from 12:30-1:30pm.

    CATS Awards Assembly for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades
    Our CATS awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades will be on Friday, June 9th beginning at 8:30am in the school gym.

    Last Day of School- Early Dismissal
    Our last day of school will be Friday, June 9th!  We will be dismissing school at 11:30am!

    Kindergarten Registration for 2016-2017
    Burke County Public Schools is currently enrolling students for kindergarten.  Any child who turns 5 on or before August 31st, 2016 is eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2016-2017 school year.  Children need to be registered for kindergarten in the district in which they live.  Please try to register your kindergarten student by Friday, April 29th, 2016.

    Preschool (PreK) Applications for 2016-2017
    Burke County Public Schools will begin accepting preschool applications on Thursday, April 7th, 2016.  A complete NC Pre-K application includes a birth certificate and check stub(s).
